New Delhi, July 3: In a major breakthrough against international narcotics trafficking, the Special Staff of the South District Police has busted an international drug syndicate operating between Nepal and Delhi, arresting three Nepali nationals and seizing 8.598 kilograms of high-grade charas valued at nearly ₹9 crore in the international illegal market.
According to Delhi Police, the operation has exposed a well-organised cross-border drug trafficking network that allegedly used encrypted digital communication, online payments and sophisticated methods to evade law enforcement agencies.
Police said the accused were allegedly involved in supplying premium-quality charas from Nepal to Delhi and other locations through an organised distribution network.
High-Value Narcotics Seized
During the operation, police recovered 8.598 kilograms of high-quality charas, with an estimated value of around ₹9 crore in the international illicit market.
Officials described the seizure as one of the significant recoveries made by the South District Police in recent months.
WhatsApp Orders and Digital Payments
The investigation revealed that the syndicate allegedly operated almost entirely through WhatsApp and digital payment platforms.
According to police, customers placed orders through WhatsApp, payments were made digitally, and after every transaction, the accused allegedly deleted chats and call records to erase evidence and avoid detection.
Investigators believe the network had developed a systematic method of conducting drug transactions while minimising its digital footprint.
International Drug Network Under Scanner
Police said the arrests have provided crucial leads into a larger international drug supply chain operating through the India-Nepal corridor.
Investigators are now examining the digital trail, financial transactions and communication records to identify suppliers, couriers, financiers and other members of the syndicate.
The role of handlers operating from across the Nepal border is also under investigation.
Probe Continues
Delhi Police said further investigation is underway to dismantle the entire trafficking network and identify all those associated with the cross-border narcotics operation.
Officials are also analysing seized electronic devices and financial records to trace additional links in the syndicate and determine whether the network was supplying narcotics to other cities across India.
The South District Police said more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses and additional evidence is collected.
