New Delhi: In preparation for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra 2025, Delhi’s Minister for Education, Home, and Power, Ashish Sood on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat. Senior officials from the Delhi Police, Urban Development Department, DUSIB, Fire Services, Home Guards, MCD, power distribution companies, and the Disaster Management Authority participated in the meeting.
Following the meeting, Sood emphasized the Delhi government’s commitment to ensuring that Kanwar pilgrims can perform their religious rituals with dignity and devotion, while minimizing inconvenience to the general public and ensuring smooth city operations.
“This is the first major religious event under the current government. Thousands of devotees are expected to pass through Delhi from various states, and we will ensure all necessary facilities are in place,” said Sood.

To streamline administrative procedures, the government will set up a single-window clearance system at the office of the District Magistrate for Kanwar organizing committees. This system will enable faster approvals and permissions from different departments.
Sood stressed that safety, service, and convenience of lakhs of incoming devotees are top priorities. Key arrangements will include sanitation, drinking water, continuous power supply, and effective traffic management along the designated Kanwar routes.
The power department was instructed to promptly resolve any power outages or leakage issues, particularly during the monsoon. Departments including the MCD, Urban Development, and others were tasked with identifying rest points and ensuring cleanliness, availability of toilets, potable water, and lighting.

Sood also directed Delhi Police to deploy adequate male and female personnel at sensitive points and along the Yatra route to maintain law and order and manage traffic congestion. Permanent barricading will be installed at key locations to ensure pilgrims remain on authorized routes.
Police were also told to regulate sound systems in Kanwar camps, particularly those near residential areas, ensuring devotional music does not violate permissible hours. Officers will advise pilgrims to avoid loud music at night, maintaining harmony with local residents.
Coordination with police forces from neighboring states will be strengthened to guarantee the safety of all pilgrims during the Yatra.
Delhi Fire Services have been asked to prepare a plan for deploying small fire tenders near Kanwar camps to swiftly respond to any fire-related emergencies.
Sood concluded the session by calling for seamless coordination among all departments, urging full preparedness to ensure a peaceful, safe, and successful Kanwar Yatra 2025.
