New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly is poised to display portraits of esteemed nationalist freedom fighters Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and Madan Mohan Malviya in its galleries, according to a party leader on Tuesday.
The proposal, which also includes the name of Dayanand Saraswati, was put forth by BJP MLA and the party’s chief whip in the Assembly, Abha Verma, and submitted to Speaker Vijender Gupta.
“The General Purposes Committee of the Assembly will deliberate on this proposal during its meeting on Wednesday,” a party source revealed.
Verma, who represents the Laxmi Nagar constituency, emphasized that this initiative aims to honor the nation’s “glorious past” and inspire future generations.
“This initiative will not only reflect our devotion and gratitude towards the nation but will also infuse the Vidhan Sabha with a vibrant historical consciousness,” Verma stated in her letter.
The BJP regained power in Delhi after a 27-year hiatus, winning the Assembly elections held in February this year. The party successfully ended the Aam Aadmi Party’s dominance by securing 48 out of the 70 Assembly constituencies in the capital.
