New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed S B K Singh, the Director General of Home Guards, as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police, effective August 1, following the completion of incumbent Sanjay Arora’s tenure.
According to the official order issued on Thursday, Singh — a 1988-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre — will assume additional charge of the top Delhi Police post, marking a key transition in the capital’s law enforcement leadership.
The move comes amid routine administrative reshuffles and follows Arora’s scheduled superannuation. Singh’s tenure is expected to continue until further notice from the Home Ministry.
The appointment of Singh to the prestigious position aligns with the Centre’s focus on experienced leadership within the Delhi Police hierarchy.
