Lal Quila Blast: Amit Shah Orders High-Level Inquiry After i20 Car Explosion Near Red Fort

New Delhi: Panic gripped the national capital on Sunday evening after a powerful explosion occurred near the historic Red Fort. According to initial reports, the blast took place around 7:00 pm near the Subhash Smart Traffic Signal, when an i20 car suddenly went up in flames. The impact damaged nearby vehicles and left several people injured.

Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that both the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Special Branch teams reached the spot within minutes of the explosion. He said that NSG (National Security Guard) and NIA (National Investigation Agency) officials, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), have begun a coordinated investigation into the cause of the blast.

“All CCTV footage in the area is being thoroughly examined. I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner and the head of the Special Branch, who are both present at the site,” Shah stated. “We are exploring every possible angle and will present the findings before the public once the probe concludes.”

The Home Minister added that he would personally visit both the explosion site and the hospitals where the injured have been admitted.
