Delhi Unleashes Cutting-Edge Anti-Pollution Arsenal to Combat Road Dust

Date:

New Delhi: In a bold move to tackle the city’s persistent air pollution problem, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa witnessed a live demonstration of advanced Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines, high-powered water sprinklers, and state-of-the-art anti-smog guns on Monday.

As the national capital grapples with its notorious air quality, the Delhi government announced its commitment to deploying these sophisticated technologies to elevate road cleaning efforts.

Chief Minister Gupta emphasized during the event, “We are committed to deploying these machines in every constituency to ensure thorough and effective cleaning of our roads.” She further highlighted the advanced capabilities of the new fleet, which includes eco-friendly electric variants. “Our plan is to prioritize electric machines to minimize any contribution to existing pollution levels,” Gupta stated, underscoring the government’s focus on sustainable solutions.

The MRS machines boast an impressive array of functionalities, encompassing sweeping, high-pressure cleaning, water loading/unloading capabilities, and efficient litter collection. This initiative builds upon a previous announcement made on May 20th, where the Cabinet approved a comprehensive sanitation and dust control plan for roads under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department (PWD).

As part of this ambitious plan, the PWD will deploy a powerful combination of 250 water sprinklers integrated with anti-smog guns, 70 advanced MRS machines working in tandem with 210 water sprinklers and anti-smog guns, supported by 18 dedicated dump vehicles and 18 water tankers.

This multi-pronged approach signals a serious commitment to improving air quality and creating a healthier environment for Delhi’s residents.
