Debris Mafia vs Civic Authority: Narrow Escape for Deputy Chairman in East Delhi

Date:

New Delhi: Illegal debris dumping has emerged as a serious civic and safety concern in East Delhi, with roads near Yamuna Park reportedly turning into unofficial dumping zones for construction waste.

In a shocking incident, Raju Sachdeva, Deputy Chairman of Shahdara South Zone, was allegedly nearly run over while attempting to stop a tractor involved in dumping debris near the Kadak-Kadi Mod stretch. According to officials, when Sachdeva tried to intervene, the tractor driver allegedly attempted to mow him down and flee the spot.

Sachdeva reportedly chased the vehicle and managed to apprehend the driver, who was later handed over to the police. The tractor used for dumping debris has since been seized.

The Preet Vihar Police confirmed that the vehicle has been impounded and the driver is being questioned. Further investigation is underway to determine whether the dumping operation was part of a larger illegal network.

Local residents say that unchecked debris dumping has severely worsened pollution levels, reduced road visibility, and increased the risk of accidents in the area. Allegations have also surfaced regarding possible collusion of officials, allowing such activities to continue unchecked.

Civic representatives have warned that unless strict enforcement and accountability measures are put in place, illegal debris dumping will continue to endanger public safety and degrade the city’s environment.
