Midnight Crime in Shahdara: Elderly Couple Murdered, Son Raises Alarm

New Delhi: Panic gripped Delhi’s Shahdara area after an elderly couple was found brutally murdered inside their residence at Ram Nagar Extension late on Saturday night. The bodies of the couple were discovered on the third floor of their house, with visible injury marks on their faces, prompting police to investigate the case from multiple angles, including robbery and personal enmity.

The deceased have been identified as Parvez Bansal (65) and Virender Kumar Bansal (75), a retired school teacher. According to police, the incident came to light around 12:30 am when the couple’s son returned home and found both parents unresponsive. After repeated calls went unanswered, he entered the house and discovered their bodies lying in separate rooms.

Local residents, alerted by the son’s cries for help, rushed to the spot and informed the police by dialing the emergency number 112. Police teams reached the location within 15–20 minutes and shifted the victims to a hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.

Preliminary examination revealed injury marks on the faces of both victims, indicating violence. However, police officials said there were no signs of forced entry into the house, raising suspicion that the assailant may have been someone known to the family.

Contrary to initial speculation, neighbours stated that the house did not appear ransacked, and valuables did not seem to be scattered. Despite this, police have not ruled out the robbery angle and are examining CCTV footage, call records, and the family’s background.

Confirming the incident, DCP Prashant Kishore said police received a call stating that the parents were lying unconscious. “When our teams reached the spot, they found both victims unresponsive. They were shifted to the hospital, where their deaths were confirmed. We are investigating the case from all possible angles and have not ruled anything out,” he said.

The shocking double murder has once again raised concerns over the safety of senior citizens in the national capital, especially in residential neighbourhoods. Police presence has been intensified in the area, and forensic teams are collecting evidence from the crime scene.
