Major Security Breach at Delhi Assembly: Car Breaks Through VIP Gate, Investigation Underway

Date:

New Delhi: A major security breach was reported at the Delhi Legislative Assembly on April 6, 2026, after an unidentified car forcefully entered the premises by breaking through a VIP gate, raising serious concerns over security arrangements.

According to initial reports, the vehicle — identified as a Tata car bearing a Uttar Pradesh registration number (ending with “26A”) — rammed into Gate No. 2, a restricted VIP entry point that is usually kept closed and opened only during official movements.

A man inside the vehicle allegedly drove into the premises, halted briefly, stepped out, and placed a bouquet within the Assembly compound before fleeing the scene. The entire incident reportedly lasted around five minutes, a duration considered significant given the high-security zone.

Security personnel, including CRPF staff deployed at the site, immediately initiated checks. The bouquet was treated as a suspicious object and examined carefully by bomb detection teams using specialized equipment. As of the latest updates, no explosive or hazardous material has been found.

Following the breach, Delhi Police launched a large-scale investigation. Senior officials, including the Police Commissioner, Special Commissioner, and Special Cell teams, reached the spot to assess the situation. Forensic teams are examining the scene, and CCTV footage from the area is being scrutinized to trace the accused and the vehicle.

There were initial reports suggesting that ink may have been thrown along with the bouquet, but sources have clarified that no such material has been confirmed so far. Investigators are also examining debris found near the gate to determine whether it is linked to the vehicle impact or any other element.

Eyewitnesses stated that the car entered at high speed, remained inside briefly, and then exited quickly despite attempts by security personnel to respond. The suspect managed to escape, and efforts are ongoing to locate both the vehicle and the individual involved.

Authorities have termed the incident a serious lapse, especially considering the breach occurred through a restricted VIP gate. Investigations are underway to determine intent, possible security gaps, and whether the act was symbolic or part of a larger threat.
