New Delhi: A 36-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her partner in a shocking case of conspiracy in Dwarka, Delhi, police said on Friday. The victim, Karan Dev, died of electrocution on July 13, and the case is now being investigated as a premeditated murder.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh, a PCR call was received from Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital in Uttam Nagar, where Karan had been taken in an unresponsive state, with the MLC report citing electrocution as the cause of death.
Initial reports indicated no suspicion of foul play, with Karan’s family even requesting to waive the postmortem. However, due to his young age, police proceeded with a postmortem at Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, which later triggered a murder investigation.
Investigations revealed that Karan’s wife and her partner, who is reportedly the son of Karan’s uncle, allegedly drugged him with sleeping pills before electrocuting him. Following the act, the wife reportedly ran to her in-laws’ home nearby and claimed that Karan had suddenly died, prompting them to take him to the hospital.
The case took a serious turn on Wednesday, when Karan’s younger brother, Kunal Dev, approached the police with chat evidence allegedly showing the wife and her partner plotting Karan’s murder.
Based on the complaint and digital evidence, a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered. Both accused are currently under investigation, and further developments are expected soon, police added.
