West Delhi Shock: NGO Colleague Stabbed to Death in Hari Nagar, Accused Arrested

Date:

New Delhi: A late-night stabbing in West Delhi’s Hari Nagar has left a man dead and triggered concerns over rising knife crime in the district. The victim has been identified as Harish Kandwal, a resident of Uttam Nagar.

Police said information about the incident was received from DDU Hospital late at night, following which teams reached the scene and initiated an investigation. According to the DCP, one accused—Aseem Ali, a resident of Farsh Bazar and director of an NGO—has been arrested.

Preliminary inquiry suggests that the victim and the accused worked together in the same NGO and were involved in an ongoing dispute over financial transactions. Police suspect that the murder stemmed from this money-related conflict and personal rivalry.

Local residents reported hearing sounds of a quarrel late at night. The area is densely populated and located within a few hundred meters of both a Hari Nagar police post and the Hari Nagar police station, raising questions among residents about policing and response time.

In a statement, a local resident said they were unaware of the exact details but noticed police presence around 2–2:30 AM. By morning, officers were seen collecting information and recording statements from nearby residents.

With this incident, West Delhi has recorded four murder cases in the last 13 days, all involving knife attacks. Police have intensified patrols in the area and are examining CCTV footage and forensic evidence as part of the ongoing probe.
