New Delhi: The Delhi Police has exposed a sensational conspiracy involving a fabricated acid attack complaint, revealing that the alleged incident was orchestrated to counter an earlier sexual harassment case filed against the complainant’s father.
Speaking exclusively to the media, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ravindra Yadav praised his team’s meticulous investigation, saying,
“We are satisfied that an innocent man, who was falsely accused, has been proven innocent through solid evidence. The truth was completely different from what the complaint initially suggested.”
According to Yadav, the case began when a young college student filed an FIR at Bharat Nagar police station, claiming that three men on a motorcycle attacked her with acid near Laxmibai College. The FIR was registered promptly.
However, during investigation, the named accused vehemently denied involvement. “He told us he had been in Karol Bagh from morning till evening. When we checked his mobile location data, it confirmed his presence there at the time of the alleged attack,” said Yadav.
Further verification through CCTV footage also showed the accused working at a painting site in Karol Bagh during the incident. Multiple witnesses corroborated his claim. “Technically, physically, and circumstantially — he was nowhere near the crime scene,” Yadav confirmed.
Realizing that the FIR appeared suspicious, the police formed multiple teams to uncover the truth, which revealed an intricate web of personal vendetta.
“The complainant’s father was facing a sexual harassment and blackmail FIR lodged by the accused’s wife just two days before this acid attack complaint,” Yadav revealed. “To pressure the accused’s family into withdrawing that case, this false acid attack story was fabricated.”
The investigation found that the complainant’s father and relatives had planned the entire act to achieve “two goals with one strike” — to discredit the sexual harassment case and to avoid punishment in a separate 2018 acid attack case registered at Mangolpuri police station.
“We discovered that even the two men named by the girl were her distant relatives. Her family staged the incident — the brother drove her from Mukundpur to Ashok Vihar, dropped her near college, and from there she took an e-rickshaw. About 300 meters before college, she got off and made a call claiming she had been attacked with acid,” said Yadav.
Investigators examined nearby CCTV footage, but found no evidence of any attack. “We checked every camera angle, every route, every person nearby — it became clear that her family members themselves were present at the alleged site, and the accused were not even there,” Yadav stated.
Currently, one person — Akeel Khan — has been arrested, but Yadav clarified that his arrest pertains to the earlier sexual harassment case, not the false acid attack FIR.
“We will soon submit full evidence to court. Once verified, the original false FIR will be canceled, and a new case will be filed against those who made the fabricated complaint,” Yadav said.
The Delhi Police is now preparing a comprehensive report to present before the court, recommending cancellation of the false FIR and criminal action against the complainant’s family for filing a fake case and misleading investigation.
