Delhi Gang War Returns: 22-Year-Old Hashim Baba Gang Shooter Gunned Down in Seelampur — Over 15 Rounds Fired in Midnight Execution

Date:

New Delhi: A chilling gang war erupted once again in North-East Delhi on Thursday night when 22-year-old Hashim Baba gang shooter Misbah was brutally gunned down in Seelampur market. The assailants pumped more than 15 bullets into Misbah’s body, leaving him dead on the spot in a brazen act that shook the densely populated area.

According to eyewitnesses, the sound of rapid gunfire tore through the night around 10:30 p.m., forcing locals to lock themselves inside their homes. Panic gripped the area as people called the police helpline. When the Crime Branch reached the spot, they recovered over 20 empty shells from the scene.

The Murder Scene: A Midnight Execution in Seelampur

Police sources said Misbah had stopped at Jama Masjid Chowk in Seelampur for coffee. As he was walking back to his car, two men on a motorcycle ambushed him and opened fire from close range, riddling his chest with bullets.

After executing the hit, the attackers sped away, leaving Misbah lying in a pool of blood. Investigators believe the attack was part of an ongoing rivalry between the Chenu Pehalwan gang and the Hashim Baba gang, two of Delhi’s most notorious underworld groups.

Who Was Misbah?

Misbah, a notorious history-sheeter, had been associated with both Chenu Pehalwan’s gang and later joined the Hashim Baba gang. He was facing seven serious criminal cases, including murder, robbery, and extortion.

Sources confirmed that he was released on bail in July 2025 after serving time in Tihar Jail. Police suspect that his switch in gang loyalties and growing influence may have provoked his rivals to eliminate him.

Police Investigation Underway

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to trace the shooters. CCTV footage from nearby shops and buildings is being scanned to identify the culprits.

A senior police officer told:

“Preliminary evidence suggests a planned gang rivalry hit. The attackers fired over 15 rounds, which indicates clear intent to kill. We’re looking into rival gang members who recently came out on bail.”

The murder spot is barely a few hundred meters from the residence of gangster Chenu Pehalwan, intensifying suspicion that the attack was an act of revenge.

Gang War Back on Delhi Streets

With this killing, the long-dormant rivalry between the Hashim Baba and Chenu Pehalwan gangs has reignited. Residents of Seelampur and adjoining areas like Jafrabad and Maujpur are once again living in fear of gang shootouts.

“For nearly 15 minutes, we heard continuous gunfire. Everyone shut their doors and hid inside. It felt like a war zone,” said a terrified local shopkeeper.

The Crime Branch is now investigating whether this killing marks a larger power struggle in Delhi’s underworld as rival gangs attempt to reclaim their old territories.
