New Delhi: In a proactive move to combat the sweltering summer heat, the Delhi government, under Water Minister Parvesh Verma, is rolling out a city-wide initiative to provide access to cold, clean drinking water through strategically placed “Water ATMs.” These ATMs will be installed in schools and public spaces, ensuring that refreshing hydration is readily available to all citizens.
Minister Verma inaugurated the first Water ATM at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Daryaganj, emphasizing the government’s commitment. “No one in Delhi should suffer from thirst, particularly during these harsh summer months,” he stated.
“Our government is dedicated to creating a hydration-secure and heat-resilient capital. This launch is just the first step in fulfilling that promise.”

These Water ATMs are equipped with state-of-the-art filtration systems and temperature control, designed to withstand high usage during peak hours. Furthermore, they are energy-efficient and require minimal maintenance, making them a sustainable solution for providing potable water.
Alongside the water initiative, Minister Verma participated in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in Mother’s Name) tree plantation drive at a government school in Pandara Road.
“This initiative is a powerful tribute to both our environment and the invaluable role of motherhood,” Verma explained. “I urge all Delhi residents to participate by planting a tree in honor of their mothers, whether in a local park or at home.”
Verma further added a note on the government’s swift action, stating, “In just 100 days, we have accomplished far more than what the previous government did in 10 years,” highlighting the commitment to rapid progress.
Addressing the city’s water needs, the Minister acknowledged the increased demand compared to previous years. He assured the public that officials are diligently monitoring the situation to prevent any water shortages across the city.
The Delhi government’s dual focus on accessible water and environmental sustainability aims to build a healthier and more resilient future for all its residents.
