Delhi LG Reviews Master Plan Roadmap, Orders Zero Tolerance Against Encroachments and Illegal Constructions

Date:

New Delhi, July 3: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Advisory Council of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to review the roadmap for sustainable urban development in the National Capital and outlined key priorities for Delhi’s future growth.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor said the meeting was attended by Members of Parliament Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and Sudhanshu Trivedi, along with senior officials.

According to the LG, the Advisory Council held extensive deliberations on the upcoming Master Plan for Delhi, strengthening civic and institutional frameworks, and ensuring planned, inclusive and future-ready urban development across the city.

Emphasising strict enforcement against illegal activities, Taranjit Singh Sandhu directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against illegal encroachments and unauthorized constructions.

He instructed the DDA to leverage technology for real-time monitoring of land parcels and buildings so that encroachments and unauthorized developments can be detected promptly and action can be taken without delay.

The Lieutenant Governor said technology-driven surveillance and monitoring would play a crucial role in strengthening urban governance and protecting public land from illegal occupation.

He also reiterated that a collaborative, transparent and technology-driven approach would remain the foundation for addressing Delhi’s rapidly evolving urban challenges.

The LG reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to building a sustainable, resilient and liveable ‘Viksit Delhi’, with a focus on planned infrastructure, efficient governance and long-term urban sustainability.

The meeting reviewed strategies aimed at ensuring balanced urban expansion while improving civic infrastructure, institutional capacity and overall quality of life for residents of the national capital.
