Delhi Government Suspends Five Pharmacists, Two Officials Over Alleged Irregularities in Medicine Procurement; CM Rekha Gupta Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance on Corruption

Date:

New Delhi, June 27: The Delhi Government has suspended five pharmacists and two officials with immediate effect after an investigation reportedly uncovered serious irregularities in the procurement, storage and management of medicines at various stores of the Central Procurement Agency (CPA).

According to a government statement, the action follows an inquiry that detected alleged lapses and irregularities in the handling of medicines at the agency’s stores.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said corruption and administrative negligence would not be tolerated under her government’s administration under any circumstances.

“The Delhi Government follows a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. Any form of corruption, negligence or irregularity at any level of the administration will not be tolerated,” the Chief Minister said.

Gupta said ensuring accountability in matters concerning public interest remains one of her government’s highest priorities and warned that strict action would continue against officers and employees found guilty of corruption or administrative lapses.

The Chief Minister said the government is taking a serious approach towards eliminating corruption and irregularities across departments and has adopted a “zero-tolerance” policy in this regard.

According to the statement, the Delhi Government has already undertaken several administrative reshuffles and initiated investigations across multiple departments since assuming office.

The government also said the Chief Minister regularly conducts surprise inspections across departments and takes prompt action whenever irregularities are detected.

It further stated that efforts are underway to introduce systemic reforms across government departments to minimise opportunities for corruption and administrative lapses.

The statement added that the Chief Minister’s public grievance hearings at her official residence have helped bring several irregularities in both public and private institutions to the government’s notice, enabling authorities to resolve citizens’ grievances more effectively.

The suspensions are part of the Delhi Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability and transparency in public administration, according to the official statement.
