Sanjay Jamuar Appointed First CEO of Delhi Metro International Ltd, DMRC Expands Global Ambitions

Date:

New Delhi: In a significant step towards expanding its global footprint, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has appointed Sanjay Jamuar as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL). The new entity has been set up with government support to undertake metro projects and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) assignments across India and overseas.

DMIL has been created as a specialised arm to provide advisory, consultancy, and long-term planning services for metro and urban transit systems. It will assist authorities and financial institutions in designing, developing, and improving public transport infrastructure, leveraging the decades of experience built by DMRC.

Experienced Leader with Global Exposure

Sanjay Jamuar, a former Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, brings with him extensive experience spanning Indian Railways, DMRC, and international assignments in countries including the UK, USA, France, the Middle East, and Europe.

He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership from Warwick Business School, UK, and has conducted research in Transport Economics at the University of Leeds. Notably, Jamuar was among the first Operations & Maintenance employees of DMRC when he joined in 1998, making his return to the organisation a significant homecoming.

Strengthening DMRC’s Global Reach

DMRC has already established itself as a leading metro consultancy agency. It is currently associated with the Dhaka Metro project in Bangladesh and is handling key O&M contracts for metro systems in Chennai, Mumbai, and Patna.

Additionally, DMRC has served as a consultant for nearly all major metro projects in India and has executed construction work in cities such as Mumbai, Jaipur, and Patna.

With the formation of DMIL under Jamuar’s leadership, DMRC is expected to scale up its international operations, positioning itself as a global player in metro rail development, consultancy, and operations.

The move is seen as a strategic push to export India’s metro expertise worldwide while strengthening urban mobility systems both domestically and internationally.
