Delhi Govt Launches Mentorship Drive for 56 Underperforming Schools in Bid to Boost Academic Results

Date:

New Delhi: In a strategic move to uplift academic performance, the Delhi government has identified 56 government schools with pass percentages below 60% in Class IX and XI and assigned them to officers from the Directorate of Education (DoE) for focused academic mentoring in the 2025–26 academic year.

According to a circular issued on Tuesday, the initiative aims to provide targeted support to schools that underperformed during the 2024–25 session. The identified schools will now receive close monitoring and guidance to enhance teaching methodologies, assessment frameworks, and student learning outcomes.

The DoE’s Exam Branch shortlisted the schools based on internal performance analysis of Class IX and XI results. Officers will act as mentors, conducting regular inspections and providing need-based academic support to school staff and students.

As per the directive, each officer must visit their designated school at least once every two weeks and submit a same-day inspection report in the prescribed format.

The circular also reiterated the significance of Mission Mathematics and enrichment classes for Classes VI to X, referencing a prior communication dated June 23. These programmes are designed to improve conceptual clarity and make learning more engaging and effective, in line with the Delhi government’s broader education reform agenda.
