New Delhi: In a significant initiative to promote educational equity and financial inclusion, the BJP-led Delhi government distributed scholarships to students on Friday, marking the completion of 100 days in office. This event was part of the Delhi Higher and Technical Education Support Scheme.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, alongside Education Minister Ashish Sood, presented scholarships to deserving students at the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) during a special disbursement program organized by the Directorate of Higher Education.
The initiative aims to support economically disadvantaged yet academically talented students pursuing higher education across various state universities in Delhi. According to sources, approximately 1,305 students benefited from this program, which has been allocated a budget of Rs 19 crore.
The event also saw the presence of Chief Secretary Dharmendra, Secretary of Training and Technical Education, Higher Education (TTE/HE) Nandini Paliwal, and Director (TTE/HE) Kumar Abhishek.

“This is not merely a report card; it is a workbook. All the work accomplished by the government will continue to be documented and built upon,” the Chief Minister remarked while unveiling a document that highlights the government’s achievements over the past 100 days.
In her address at the scholarship event, Gupta expressed pride in the government’s progress, stating, “As your Chief Minister, I am thrilled to share the remarkable strides our government has made in just the first 100 days. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are dedicated to transforming Delhi into a beacon of inclusive and high-quality education.” She further announced, “For the first time, students preparing for competitive exams such as JEE, NEET, CUET, and others will receive free coaching in Delhi government schools. We are dismantling financial barriers and unlocking the true potential of every child.”
The Chief Minister announced that the government has allocated a historic budget of Rs 20,000 crore for education, focusing on key areas such as infrastructure development, digital learning, teacher empowerment, and student support.
“Our vision extends beyond mere education; we aim to empower every child with the tools necessary for success in the India of tomorrow,” the Chief Minister stated.
Education Minister Ashish Sood emphasized, “Our students are not just learners; they are the torchbearers of India’s progress. Investing in their development is not merely an option; it is a national imperative.” He highlighted that within just 100 days, the government has provided scholarship support to 1,305 deserving students across Delhi’s government universities, totaling an unprecedented Rs 19 crore. This initiative is not a symbolic gesture but a bold affirmation of the government’s priorities, he added.
“We are establishing systems that prioritize outcomes, value merit, and uplift those who need support the most,” Sood remarked.
The Chief Minister also announced that the public will be informed about the government’s achievements over the past 100 days at an event scheduled for Saturday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. To further enhance awareness, central government ministers, along with other ministers and councilors, will visit each of the 70 assembly constituencies.
The BJP returned to power in Delhi after a 26-year hiatus, securing 48 out of 70 Assembly seats in the elections held in February.
