While traveling on leave from Military Hospital Jhansi to his hometown Hyderabad, Major Rohit spotted a woman in advanced labour who had fallen from her wheelchair near the lift at Jhansi Railway Station. With no formal medical setup nearby, he improvised a makeshift delivery on the platform using only a towel, a knife, and hair clips.

Although the newborn was unresponsive at birth, Major Rohit’s swift resuscitation efforts revived the baby. He then expertly managed the mother’s post‑delivery complications, stabilizing both patients before arranging their transfer to a government hospital.

In his post, the ADG PI highlighted Major Rohit’s clinical skill, calmness under pressure, and steadfast commitment to the Armed Forces’ ethos, commending him for transforming a railway platform into an impromptu delivery room and saving two lives.
