New Delhi: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested a proclaimed offender in connection with a 2015 dacoity-cum-murder case, bringing to justice a long-absconding accused while three of his co-conspirators are already serving life imprisonment.
The arrested individual has been identified as Ashish Kumar (35), son of Satender Kumar, a resident of Rohta village in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He was declared a fugitive by the Rohini Sessions Court on January 4, 2023, for his role in the violent robbery and killing of a businessman in Delhi’s Maurya Enclave.
According to the Delhi Police, the arrest took place on June 6, 2025, in Sector MU of Greater Noida, based on technical surveillance and manual intelligence developed by SI Chander Prakash and a team led by Inspector Arun Sindhu, under the supervision of ACP Arvind Kumar of ARSC, Crime Branch.

The case, registered under FIR No. 36/15 at Maurya Enclave Police Station, involved multiple serious charges including murder (Section 302), dacoity (Section 395), and use of arms (27 Arms Act), among others.
Case Background: Ashish, then a college student, was allegedly influenced by his friend Amit—already involved in criminal activities—to join a heist plan targeting a businessman. Along with Amit, Adil, and Shahbad alias Kaddu, Ashish took part in the robbery, which resulted in the theft of ₹7 lakh and the murder of the businessman who resisted. Ashish reportedly received ₹1.5 lakh from the loot.
In 2020, Ashish was granted interim bail for 45 days which got extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he failed to surrender after 2022 and went into hiding, eventually working as a labourer in an Oppo manufacturing plant in Greater Noida before being apprehended.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the case, and further investigation is ongoing.
