New Delhi: In a shocking incident that underscores the deteriorating law and order situation in the national capital, a team of Delhi Police officers was brutally assaulted by liquor mafia members during a raid in the Gautampuri area of Badarpur on Monday night.

According to sources, the raid was carried out around 10 PM, following a tip-off that a local bootlegger, Kailash Sasi, was operating an illegal liquor racket with his associates. As the police team reached the location to conduct the raid, Sasi allegedly called in his gang members, who launched a violent attack on the officers using sticks and batons.

One police officer sustained serious injuries and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. The audacity of the assault has sparked outrage within the police department and raised questions about the safety of law enforcement officers in a city where criminals appear to be operating with impunity.

Following the attack, heavy police deployment was carried out across Gautampuri. The area was turned into a security fortress as multiple teams conducted house-to-house searches to track down the culprits, who managed to flee the scene after assaulting the police.

Delhi Police later conducted a flag march in the area to restore confidence and deter further criminal activity. As of now, the situation is said to be under control, but the attackers remain at large.

Senior police officials confirmed that search operations are ongoing and efforts are being made to apprehend all accused involved in the assault on police personnel.
