New Delhi: In a bizarre and unprecedented case of liquor smuggling, Delhi Police has busted a gang that was using camels to transport illegal liquor from Haryana to the national capital. The South District Police arrested five smugglers and seized three camels along with 42 cartons of illicit liquor being brought from Faridabad to Neb Sarai.
According to police officials, the gang had devised this unique method to avoid suspicion. The smugglers would load cartons of liquor onto camels, believing that the police and locals would not suspect them. However, acting on a tip-off, the South District Police laid a trap late at night and intercepted the gang on the Faridabad–Neb Sarai route.

Police said the gang was ferrying alcohol manufactured in Haryana into Delhi through camels. This unusual modus operandi left even the officers stunned, as it was the first time such a technique was uncovered.
During the operation, police seized three camels used in the smuggling and recovered 42 cartons of illegal liquor. Investigators are now working to identify more people connected to this network.
Police stressed that the crackdown highlights their commitment to curb the flow of illicit liquor in Delhi, especially ahead of festive season checks.
