New Delhi: A massive wave of patriotism swept through Janakpuri as Delhi’s Education Minister Shri Ashish Sood led a Grand Tiranga Yatra from Block C-1 to Dabri Chowk on the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day. The rally, attended by over 8,000 residents, was marked by the enthusiastic participation of social, political, religious, and business organizations, RWA representatives, and schoolchildren carrying the Tricolour. West Delhi MP Smt. Kamaljeet Sehrawat also joined the procession, which resonated with the spirit of unity and national pride.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Sood said, “This Tiranga Yatra is not just a celebration of Independence Day, but a commitment to building a developed Delhi, a developed Janakpuri, and a developed India. It is also a message of cleanliness, social responsibility, and positive change.”

He shared childhood memories of August 15, stressing that the day should be about meaningful contributions to the nation rather than just hoisting flags and flying kites. Urging people to support the “Vocal for Local” initiative, he appealed for a complete ban on Chinese manjha and encouraged the use of indigenous kite strings and tricoloured kites.
Recalling Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s iconic slogan — “You give me blood, I will give you freedom” — Sood said today’s India requires passion, values, and service to society rather than bloodshed. He also paid tribute to the Kargil martyrs, describing their sacrifices as a source of inspiration for generations.

Sood further emphasized that patriotism also means civic responsibility — keeping surroundings clean, following traffic rules, protecting public property, and preserving the environment.
On this occasion, MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat stated, “The Tricolour is not just a symbol of honor, but a reminder of countless sacrifices by great freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Chandrashekhar Azad, Netaji Subhas Bose, and Mahatma Gandhi.” She highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, urging citizens to actively contribute to nation-building.
