New Delhi: In a significant move to streamline business licensing, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a web-based portal allowing traders to instantly obtain health trade licences upon uploading required documents and paying relevant fees.
The digital initiative aims to bring transparency, efficiency, and ease of access for businesses engaged in designated health trades across the city. The system auto-generates a licence certificate that applicants can download and print after successful submission and payment.
However, the MCD has issued a strict caution against any misuse of the system. Licences obtained through misrepresentation or concealment of facts will be revoked immediately, and the fees paid will not be refunded.
Strict Guidelines and Compliance
The civic body emphasised that licences granted for businesses operating in non-conforming zones will be considered null and void from the start. Additionally, incomplete submissions or non-compliance with technical and general conditions will invite scrutiny from regulatory officers.
Traders found in violation may face penalties under the Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Act, including closure of business and sealing of premises.
Responsibilities of Applicants
The MCD highlighted that it is the responsibility of the applicant to regularly monitor the application status and make any necessary corrections promptly. Failure to comply with the guidelines will result in consequences borne solely by the applicant.
The portal is part of the corporation’s broader push for digitisation and improved public service delivery. It reflects a shift towards self-declaration-based governance, backed by post-approval scrutiny and accountability.
