New Delhi: In a major disciplinary action, the Delhi Police Commissioner suspended 25 policemen on charges of negligence during duty at Rohini Sector-25 ISKCON Temple, where he had made a surprise visit on Friday. Sources confirmed that SHO Shabaz Dari has also been sent to lines following the incident.
The Commissioner had arrived at the temple and directed his convoy towards Gate No. 2 instead of the VIP-designated Gate No. 1. Gate No. 2, which is reserved for public entry, was found to be in a state of mismanagement and lacked proper police security arrangements. On witnessing the chaos and lack of preparedness, the Commissioner expressed strong displeasure and ordered immediate disciplinary action.
According to officials, 25 policemen posted on duty at the temple were suspended on the spot for failing to maintain order and ensure proper protocol. Additionally, SHO Shabaz Dari, who was responsible for the arrangements, was marked for dereliction of duty and attached to lines.
The Commissioner’s strict action is being viewed as a stern message to the force about accountability, discipline, and public safety. Sources added that such negligence at a high-security venue with VIP movement could have led to serious lapses.
This move has created a strong buzz in the police circles, underlining that duty negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
