New Delhi:
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) South Zone organised a large-scale cleanliness drive in Chirag Delhi as part of its ‘Delhi ko Kude se Azadi’ Swachhta campaign, with Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh and Greater Kailash MLA Shikha Rai leading the initiative.
The event witnessed the participation of Deputy Commissioner South Zone Dilkhush Meena, senior MCD officials, RWA members, zonal department heads, and numerous volunteers. Mayor Singh, while addressing the gathering, urged residents to take ownership of their neighbourhoods’ cleanliness. “Cleanliness is not just the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation, but of every citizen. Delhi will be clean only when we all keep our homes, streets, and surroundings clean,” he said.

Community Participation on a 3-Kilometre Stretch
Hundreds of residents from local RWAs, market associations, and sanitation workers joined hands with MLA Shikha Rai and area councillors to clean a 3-kilometre stretch of Chirag Delhi road. All zonal departments participated in shramdaan activities, while health officials conducted fogging and spraying operations in breeding-prone areas.
Parallel Effort in Fatehpur Beri
In addition to the Chirag Delhi drive, another cleanliness initiative was carried out in Fatehpur Beri village under the leadership of MCD Standing Committee Deputy Chairman Sundar Tanwar, accompanied by senior officials. Both events aimed to reinforce citizen engagement in the fight against waste and to boost the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan spirit in Delhi.
