New Delhi: Entry and exit gates at 57 Delhi Metro stations will close from 9 pm on October 9 and remain closed through October 10 until further notice, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced, citing security reasons.
Passengers will still be able to interchange at the affected interchange stations, except New Delhi, where that facility will also be unavailable under the advisory.
Major stations covered by the restriction
The list includes Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Kashmere Gate, Mandi House, Patel Chowk, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi, ITO, Delhi Gate, Jama Masjid, Dilli Haat-INA and Hauz Khas.
It also covers stations on several other corridors, including Inderlok, Netaji Subhash Place, Welcome, Azadpur, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Lajpat Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan-Nizamuddin, Majlis Park, Maujpur-Babarpur, Kalindi Kunj, Jamia Millia Islamia, Okhla Vihar and Shivaji Stadium.
The restriction concerns entry and exit at the listed stations. DMRC’s notice does not announce a network-wide suspension of train services. Travellers whose journeys depend on an affected station should plan an alternative boarding or exit point and check subsequent DMRC service updates.
