NEW DELHI: Pakistan and India have confirmed an immediate ceasefire following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement on Saturday. This significant development comes after weeks of heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
The ceasefire agreement follows a deadly militant attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, last month, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives and led to retaliatory strikes between the two countries.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the ceasefire, stating, “Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always prioritized peace and security in the region while upholding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
