New Delhi: A 40-minute Yamuna cruise priced at ₹500 per person moved a step closer on Monday as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched trial runs of the Namo Yamuna Cruise Safari on the Sonia Vihar–Jagatpur stretch. Passenger services are planned to begin before Chhath Mahaparv.
The planned ride will accommodate up to 30 passengers per trip. Trial runs have begun; a date for the formal public launch has yet to be announced.

Cleanliness and passenger safety take priority
Reviewing preparations, Gupta directed officials to give the highest priority to cleanliness, passenger safety and convenience. Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra and senior officials were present at the trial launch.
Gupta said the river safari would give Delhi residents another option for family outings and recreation, while promoting tourism, supporting local businesses and creating employment opportunities.
Launch planned before Chhath
The Chief Minister said the government planned to inaugurate the Yamuna Safari before the festival. She described the experience as an opportunity for residents to spend peaceful time on the river.
She credited the Central Government, the Delhi administration, the Tourism Department and the Delhi Development Authority for their joint efforts in bringing the project to this stage.
