Delhi MCD Launches Real-Time Tracking Portal for Road Sweeping Machines to Boost Transparency and Cleaner Roads

Date:

New Delhi: In a major civic-tech initiative, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a live tracking portal that allows citizens to monitor the real-time movement of Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines (MRSMs) across the national capital. The move aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, dust pollution control, and citizen participation in civic services.

According to officials, the MRSMs operate daily between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, except on Sundays and gazetted holidays. Through the new digital platform, citizens can now see exactly where and when the sweeping machines are deployed, ensuring greater accountability and improved efficiency in road cleaning operations.

Currently, 52 Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines are deployed by MCD, covering nearly 1,600 kilometers of road stretches (above 60 feet width) every day. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce dust pollution and enhance road cleanliness across the city.

MCD Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh emphasized the importance of adopting IT-driven solutions for civic management, while MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar highlighted that the real-time portal marks a step towards smarter, technology-enabled governance.

“This initiative ensures citizens are informed and empowered. The live tracking system not only promotes accountability but also builds trust between the civic body and the people it serves,” said Commissioner Ashwani Kumar.

The MCD reiterated its commitment to improving cleanliness, upgrading civic infrastructure, and creating a healthier environment for all Delhi residents.
