Last Chance! Avail 10% Rebate on MCD Property Tax Payment Under SUNIYO Amnesty Scheme by August 31

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has issued a final reminder urging all property owners and occupiers in the capital to avail the 10% rebate on lump-sum property tax payment for the current financial year (2025-26) under the Property Tax Amnesty Scheme – SUMPATTIKAR NIPTAAN YOJANA (SUNIYO). The extended deadline ends on 31st August, 2025.

Mayor of Delhi, Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, appealed to taxpayers to seize this last opportunity to settle their dues.

“We appeal to all property owners/occupiers to make full use of this golden opportunity under SUNIYO and settle their outstanding property tax dues without incurring penalties or interest,” the Mayor said.

Key Benefits of SUNIYO Amnesty Scheme 2025-26

  • 10% rebate on lump-sum property tax payment for FY 2025-26 if paid by 31st August, 2025.
  • Full waiver of property tax interest and penalties prior to FY 2020-21.
  • Taxpayers only need to pay the principal amount of property tax for FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25 and the current year (2025-26).
  • Applicable for both residential and commercial properties under MCD’s jurisdiction.

Impact So Far

The SUNIYO Amnesty Scheme has seen an overwhelming response:

  • 98,017 taxpayers have already availed benefits.
  • ₹283.89 crore collected in the first three months of the scheme.
    • ₹117.48 crore from 75,006 residential properties.
    • ₹166.41 crore from 23,011 commercial properties.

Extended Deadline for Taxpayers’ Ease

As per Section 123(B) sub-clause 3 of the DMC Act, 1957, the rebate is usually limited to lump-sum payments made in the first quarter of the financial year. Originally set for June 30, 2025, the deadline was first extended to 31 July, 2025, and then further to 31 August, 2025.

Final Appeal

The last day is very near. MCD has called upon all Delhi citizens, residential property owners, and commercial property taxpayers to avail the 10% rebate and full waiver of past penalties and interest by making their lump-sum payments before 31 August, 2025.
