New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has held a detailed review meeting with Delhi Development Authority (DDA) officials to accelerate the rejuvenation and restoration of the historic Yamuna Bazar area and its ghats.
The review follows his recent site visit along with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, during which directions were issued to prepare a comprehensive redevelopment plan for the heritage stretch.
In his post on social media platform X, the LG stated that officials have been instructed to further refine the plan by incorporating key elements such as promotion of spiritual tourism, expansion of green spaces, and creation of sustainable livelihood opportunities for local residents.
He also emphasized the need for robust flood mitigation measures to ensure long-term resilience of the Yamuna Bazar area, which is prone to seasonal flooding.
The initiative is aimed at preserving the cultural and historical significance of the ghats while transforming the area into a sustainable and accessible public space.
