NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police have apprehended the husband of a woman whose body was discovered inside a bed box in a flat located in the Shahdara area, as per an official statement released on Sunday.
Ashish Kumar (45) was taken into custody in Bihar during the early hours of Sunday and is currently being interrogated by senior police officers.
The decomposing body of Anju, also known as Anjali, was found wrapped in a blanket inside a bed box in a flat in Shahdara on Friday, according to police reports.
Two other suspects, flat owner Vivekanand Mishra (64) and Abhay Kumar Jha, also known as Sonu (29), a driver from Bihar, were apprehended on Saturday as part of the investigation.
Authorities have determined that Ashish, along with Mishra and Jha, allegedly murdered Anju after she discovered them in a compromising situation.
Initially, Anju had left for Ludhiana, but Ashish persuaded her to return, only to later conspire with Mishra and Jha to commit the heinous act.
The trio then concealed her body in a bed box at Mishra’s flat before fleeing to Jaipur, where they sought refuge at Jha’s cousin’s residence, according to police reports.
Ashish is currently under interrogation as the investigation continues to unfold.
