338.5 kg illegal firecrackers seized in Bhalswa Dairy; supply chain under probe

Date:

New Delhi: Outer North District Police said its AATS team seized approximately 338.5 kg of illegally stored firecrackers, valued at about ₹3.5 lakh, from Bhalswa Dairy and apprehended a 29-year-old man.

The action followed specific information received on October 13 about alleged storage, sale and wholesale supply near Yadav Chowk. Police identified the apprehended man as Rahul.

Three boxes led police to larger stock

According to the press note, officers first stopped Rahul carrying a white plastic sack and found three boxes of firecrackers. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed that a larger quantity was stored in a room on the third floor of his residence.

A search of the room led to the recovery of cartons, boxes and packets containing ground chakkars, flower pots, sparklers, multi-colour shots and other varieties, police said.

Procurement and distribution network under investigation

Police registered FIR No. 629/26 at Bhalswa Dairy police station under Section 223(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 9B of the Explosives Act, 1884.

Investigators are examining the source of procurement, transportation, storage and intended distribution of the seized stock and whether other people were involved. The allegations remain under investigation.
