New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Reader posted with the Court of ASJ-02 at Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant.
According to the CBI, the accused was caught red-handed while accepting ₹20,000 as part payment of a total bribe demand of ₹30,000. The bribe was allegedly sought to facilitate the processing and allowance of a bail application related to the complainant’s client.
The case was registered by the CBI on April 23, 2026, based on a complaint alleging that the court official had demanded illegal gratification for extending favour in judicial proceedings. Acting swiftly, the agency laid a trap on the same day and apprehended the accused during the transaction.
Officials confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is currently underway to uncover any wider involvement or additional instances of corruption.
The CBI reiterated its commitment to cracking down on corruption among public servants and urged citizens to report any instances of bribery.
