New Delhi: Delhi Education, Home and Power Minister Ashish Sood on Wednesday launched a series of infrastructure development projects in his constituency Janakpuri under the “Rekha Sarkar Aapke Dwar” campaign. The initiatives include laying new sewer lines, water pipelines, and PNG gas pipelines across multiple blocks.
Sood said the projects are aimed at resolving long-standing issues faced by residents in Janakpuri, where either no sewer lines had been laid earlier or existing pipelines had become outdated and damaged. “Due to broken sewer lines, sewage water often mixed with drinking water pipelines, creating a serious health risk. Similarly, some areas lacked proper water supply pipelines and PNG connections. These projects will provide better civic facilities and improve living conditions,” Sood explained.

During the foundation-laying program, new pipelines were announced at A5 A White Flat, Valmiki Marg, Radha Krishna Mandir, Posangi Pur village for IGL PNG pipeline, CD Block and T Block in Uttam Nagar for sewer and water pipelines, Z Block in Dayalpur, and several localities in Shiv Nagar, Hari Nagar, and Virendra Nagar.
Highlighting the urgency, Sood stated that with Delhi’s rising population, the capacity of sewer and water pipelines needs constant upgradation. “The new lines will be completed within three months, using trenchless technology, which allows pipelines to be installed underground without damaging roads and saves both time and resources,” he added.

Sood credited the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, saying the government is committed to ensuring clean drinking water, modern sewerage facilities, and a pollution-free environment for every household in Delhi.
“Politics is not just about winning elections but about solving people’s everyday problems. Today’s foundation-laying is not just about new pipelines, but about fulfilling promises and winning the trust of the people,” he said, adding that Janakpuri’s poor civic state was due to the neglect of previous governments that failed to utilize public funds properly.
