DUSU Elections 2025: Delhi Police deploys 600 personnel, drones, CCTV cameras and traffic diversions for North Campus security, says DCP Raja Banthia

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi is on high alert ahead of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2025, with the Delhi Police announcing massive security arrangements across North Campus.

Speaking to reporters, North Delhi DCP Raja Banthia (IPS) confirmed that over 600 police personnel of all ranks will be on duty along with five paramilitary companies to ensure free and fair student polls.

“We have micro-zoned the entire North Campus, dividing it into multiple sectors based on sensitivity and vulnerability. Force deployment has been planned accordingly,” Banthia said.

To strengthen surveillance, 66 additional CCTV cameras have been installed across the campus, and six to eight drones will monitor real-time developments. A special Command and Control Centre at Chhatra Marg Integrated Police Post will track live footage throughout polling day.

For the first time, officers on duty will also wear body-worn cameras, enabling real-time recording and post-event investigation. “This step will ensure transparency and accountability,” the DCP added.

The deployment plan also includes quick response teams, women police units, anti-riot squads, and continuous patrolling. Traffic restrictions have been announced — Chhatra Marg from Ring Road to the main junction will remain closed, while GC Narang Road will face partial curbs.

Polling is scheduled in two slots:

  • Morning colleges: 8:00 am to 1:30 pm
  • Evening colleges: 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Banthia urged students and commuters to cooperate, stressing that the arrangements are designed to ensure a peaceful, secure and transparent DUSU election.
