New Delhi: In a major crackdown on counterfeit trade, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted a high-end fake luxury products racket operating under the guise of a “discount sale” at a hotel in Vasant Kunj.
Acting on specific intelligence, the team conducted a raid at the location and apprehended one accused involved in the operation. The racket was allegedly selling counterfeit branded items as genuine products to unsuspecting customers.
During the operation, police recovered a large quantity of fake luxury goods, including branded garments, watches, and accessories. Counterfeit products of popular brands such as Allen Solly, Zara, Michael Kors, and Omega were being sold as originals at discounted prices.
In addition to the fake merchandise, authorities seized ₹2.87 lakh in cash, along with swipe machines and QR code-based payment setups, indicating a well-organised retail fraud operation.
Officials said the accused had set up a temporary sale environment at a premium venue to create an illusion of authenticity and attract customers seeking luxury deals.
The operation was led by Inspector Ashish Sharma under the supervision of ACP Raj Kumar and overall guidance of DCP Pankaj Kumar.
Further investigation is underway to identify the supply chain and other individuals linked to the counterfeit network.
