“Speak Spanish, French or Arabic—Help Will Respond”: Bengaluru Police Launch Multilingual AI in Namma 112

Date:

Bengaluru: In a major tech-driven leap for public safety, Bengaluru City Police have rolled out a multilingual AI system in the Namma 112 emergency helpline—ensuring that even if you don’t speak Kannada, help will still understand you.

Whether you speak Spanish, French, Arabic, or a wide range of Indian languages, you can now call 112 and communicate in your own language during emergencies. The system instantly interprets and relays information to police personnel, eliminating language barriers that often delay critical response.

Powered by advanced Voice AI under the VANAKI framework, this initiative allows real-time translation and seamless communication between callers and emergency responders. It ensures faster response times, better clarity, and accurate deployment of services.

This move is especially significant for non-Kannada speakers, migrants, and international visitors in Bengaluru—making the city’s emergency services more inclusive and globally accessible.

Officials said the platform already supports over 10 languages, including key Indian languages, and widely spoken international languages such as Spanish, French, and Arabic, with plans to expand further.

With this innovation, Bengaluru Police have set a new benchmark in citizen-centric policing—where no matter what language you speak, help is always just one call away.
