New Delhi: Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Wednesday conducted a surprise inspection of the Municipal Primary School at B-2 Sultanpuri in the North-West Zone and directed that a show-cause notice be issued to the school principal, according to a release from the Mayor’s Office.
Wahi visited the school to evaluate the facilities provided in MCD schools. He expressed displeasure on seeing students wandering around the premises, calling it a lack of discipline, and reviewed the attendance of the teaching staff. He also voiced deep dissatisfaction with the cleanliness and maintenance of the school.
The Mayor summoned the Zonal Deputy Commissioner and the Deputy Director of Education, directing them to ensure accountability and to issue a show-cause notice to the principal. He drank the drinking water provided to students and tasted the mid-day meal.
Wahi interacted with the students and said he was pleased with their remarks and keen interest in learning. He said the administration is working in “mission mode” to improve MCD schools, and that such inspections will continue regularly.
The release noted that a few days ago Chief Minister Rekha Gupta facilitated the direct transfer of funds for school uniforms into the accounts of students enrolled in MCD schools.
