New Delhi: In a major push towards academic excellence and digital empowerment of students, the Delhi government has approved a proposal to distribute free laptops to 1,200 meritorious students of Class 10 who have excelled in their board exams.
The announcement was made by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in a post on X (formerly Twitter) after the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
“This initiative is not only aimed at supporting our bright students in their higher education journey, but also at preparing them for the digital future,” the Chief Minister stated.

Additionally, the government will establish 175 new computer laboratories in Delhi’s government schools, in line with CBSE standards. This move, she said, is intended to bridge the digital divide and equip students with quality technical education.
“By enhancing tech infrastructure and providing modern tools, we are strengthening the Digital India mission at the grassroots,” Gupta added.
The scheme is expected to provide a strong foundation for students who wish to pursue science, technology, and digital learning, while promoting a culture of merit-based incentives in the public education system.
