New Delhi: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief Madhur Verma, who had been leading investigations into alleged graft involving former AAP ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, has been transferred to the Delhi Police, according to an official notification from the Delhi Home Department.
Verma, a 2005-batch IPS officer, had summoned the AAP leaders in connection with the classroom construction scam in Delhi government schools. He will now serve as Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range).
Replacing him, senior IPS officer Vikramjit Singh, currently serving as Joint CP (Security) in Delhi Police, has been appointed as Joint CP (Anti-Corruption) under the Delhi government.
The order is part of a broader reshuffle affecting several senior IPS officers:
- Neeraj Thakur (1994 batch) has been shifted from Special CP, Delhi Police Housing Corporation Limited, to Special CP, Provisioning and Finance Department.
- Rajesh Khurana (1994 batch) will now serve as Special CP, Delhi Police Housing Corporation Limited.
- Garima Bhatnagar (1994 batch), earlier Special CP, Provisioning and Finance, has been posted as Special CP, Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
- M N Tiwari (2004 batch), currently Joint CP, Armed Police, will move to Joint CP, Security.
- Dheeraj Kumar (2004 batch) has been transferred from Joint CP, Delhi Police Academy, to Joint CP, Armed Police.
- A V Deshpande (2006 batch), presently Joint CP (PCR & Communication), will additionally handle Licensing duties.
- Nupur Prasad (2007 batch), earlier Joint CP, Licensing, will now serve as Joint CP, Economic Offences Wing.
This reshuffle comes at a time when key corruption cases involving AAP leaders are under scrutiny, and the change in ACB leadership is likely to have significant implications for ongoing investigations.
