New Delhi: US President Donald J. Trump announced today that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” following a night of U.S.-mediated talks. This development has the potential to ease decades-long tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

The announcement was made via a post on Trump’s social media platform, TruthSocial, amidst heightened tension between the two countries.

In his statement, President Trump congratulated both nations for “using common sense and great intelligence” to reach the agreement, expressing gratitude for their attention to the matter.

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire,” Trump wrote. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
