New Delhi: Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were released by the SEM Court in Delhi Cantt after a ₹50,000 surety bond for maintaining peace and good behaviour for one year was furnished, Delhi Police said on October 11.
The police statement said the three had been placed under preventive arrest under Sections 126/170 of the BNSS on October 10 and produced before the SEM Court on October 11.
Delhi Police maintained that all due legal procedures had been followed. Its statement described the bond as a bail bond in the form of a surety bond and said the court subsequently released them.
Mother disputes police account on grandmother’s death
In a separate post, police responded to allegations by Dipke’s mother, Anita Dipke, concerning whether he had been told of his grandmother’s death and could return home for the funeral.
The police post carried an image of an ANI report from Hingoli, Maharashtra, quoting Anita Dipke as saying the family had not been able to contact him. She accused Delhi Police of lying, saying he would have returned immediately had he received news of his grandmother’s death. She also said the family had put the last rites on hold for him.
Police says travel assistance was offered
Delhi Police said the information about the death was promptly conveyed to Dipke “with due sensitivity”. It said he was also informed of the scheduled funeral time.
According to police, he was offered all possible assistance to facilitate travel to his hometown on humanitarian grounds, but declined to avail himself of it. That account differs from his mother’s allegation that he would have come immediately if informed.
