AATS Arrests Proclaimed Offender Wanted in 2013 Shalimar Bagh Case

Date:

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police’s Outer North District Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) has apprehended a 39-year-old man declared a proclaimed offender in a case registered at Shalimar Bagh police station in 2013, according to a district police press note.

Police identified the arrested man as Sabeer Khan, a resident of Siraspur. He had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court in FIR No. 158/2013, registered under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code, which concerns kidnapping.

The AATS proclaimed-offender staff used sustained technical surveillance and extensive field verification to locate him, police said. The press note described the operation as a combination of digital intelligence and information gathered on the ground to trace an accused allegedly evading arrest.

Police also reported that Khan had two previous involvements in cases.

The operation was carried out by Assistant Sub-Inspector Sandeep and Head Constable Abhishek Khatri, under Inspector Anand Kumar Jha, in-charge of AATS, with supervision by ACP Operations Dinesh Kumar and guidance from Additional DCP-I Lokeshwaran R.
