New Delhi: Four 17-year-olds have been apprehended in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man in Siraspur, Outer North Delhi, police said in a statement issued on October 25.
The victim, identified as Vishal, was attacked near Sunday Bazar Chowk in Jeevan Park during the intervening night of October 23 and 24. He was taken to BSA Hospital, where he died during treatment, police said.
More than 100 CCTV clips examined
A team from Samaypur Badli police station examined more than 100 CCTV footage clips from Jeevan Park and adjoining areas. Police said CCTV analysis, local inquiries and intelligence helped identify the four juveniles, who were apprehended from Siraspur within 12 hours of the incident.
Two knives allegedly used in the assault and clothes worn at the time were recovered, police said. A case initially registered as attempted murder on October 24 was subsequently altered to murder after the victim died.
Police investigating alleged earlier dispute
Police said questioning indicated a possible revenge motive linked to a dispute at a birthday celebration a few months earlier. That account, the sequence of events and the individual roles of the four juveniles remain under investigation.
The recovered exhibits and CCTV material are being examined to corroborate the investigation, police said. The identities of the juveniles have been withheld.
