Delhi Horror: Man Burned Alive in Jahangirpuri; Wife and Mother-in-Law Detained After Dying Declaration

Date:

New Delhi: A shocking murder case has surfaced from the Jahangirpuri area of North West Delhi, where a man was allegedly burned alive by his wife and mother-in-law. Delhi Police has detained both women and launched an investigation into the incident.

According to police sources, the incident took place under the jurisdiction of Jahangirpuri Police Station. The victim, who sustained severe burn injuries, later succumbed during treatment.

A resident and owner of the house where the incident occurred recounted the horrifying sequence of events.

The witness said that around 8:30 PM, family members initially believed that a fire had broken out outside the building or due to a short circuit. However, neighbours soon gathered outside and informed them that the fire was actually inside their own premises.

According to the eyewitness account, moments later they saw a young man, completely engulfed in flames, coming down from the upper floor before collapsing on the staircase.

The witness stated that the victim was naked and had suffered severe burns across his body. Despite his condition, he reportedly remained conscious for nearly 10 minutes and gave a statement before being shifted to hospital.

The family claimed they contacted the local SHO directly after allegedly failing to connect through the emergency helpline number 112. An ambulance was also called to the spot.

According to the witness, a police officer arrived and recorded the victim’s statement on a mobile phone. In his alleged dying declaration, the victim accused his wife and mother-in-law of setting him on fire. He also claimed that 2-3 other individuals were involved in the attack.

The victim further alleged that his wife was involved in relationships with other men, which had allegedly led to ongoing disputes.

The house owner also claimed that when the victim’s family members were informed, his wife allegedly refused to come downstairs and reportedly said he should be “left to burn.”

Police later shifted the victim to hospital, where he eventually died during treatment.

Delhi Police has taken the victim’s wife and mother-in-law into custody for questioning. Officials said further investigation is underway and all allegations are being verified.
