Bus Theft Racket Busted: Crime Branch Recovers 100 Stolen Phones, Two Arrested

New Delhi: In a major crackdown on street crime, the Crime Branch has busted an organized mobile theft syndicate operating in running buses and crowded areas, recovering 100 stolen mobile phones and arresting two accused.

According to officials, the gang had been actively targeting passengers in buses and busy public spaces, stealing mobile phones with precision. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused had already disposed of over 500 stolen phones prior to their arrest.

The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs and technical surveillance, leading to the swift identification and apprehension of the suspects.

Police said the action marks a significant breakthrough in tackling mobile theft cases in the city, particularly in high-density commuter zones.

The operation was led by Inspector Rampal under the guidance of ACP Umesh Barthwal, with overall supervision by DCP Pankaj Kumar. Further investigation is underway to trace the larger network and recover more stolen devices.
