BJP Secures Extra Votes via Cross-Voting in MCD Committee Polls, Indicates AAP Councillors’ Support: Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh

Date:

New Delhi: In a notable political development, Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh on Tuesday congratulated all newly elected chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) special committees, highlighting BJP’s victory with additional votes gained via cross-voting, which he said reflects trust shown by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillors in BJP candidates.

“The results show that even AAP councillors reposed their faith in BJP’s leadership, as reflected in the extra votes secured through cross-voting,” said Mayor Singh.

Providing details, he said BJP received two additional votes in the Building Committee chairman election, while in the Health Committee deputy chairman race, BJP gained one extra vote. The Horticulture Committee also saw BJP winning both chairman and vice-chairman posts with one additional vote each.

Mayor Singh lauded the outcome as a testament to the commitment of all councillors towards transparency and public welfare.

“These results reflect a shared resolve among elected representatives to prioritise development and good governance in Delhi,” he added, extending his best wishes to the newly elected committee heads for their future civic responsibilities.
